Introduction
Gather Lists ("we", "our", "the app") is committed to protecting your privacy. This privacy policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding your data.
Information We Collect
Account Information
When you sign in with Apple, we receive:
- Email address — Used to create your account. You may choose to use Apple's private relay email.
- Name — Your first and last name, used to personalize your experience. Apple only provides this on your first sign-in.
Shopping List Data
- Items you add to your shopping lists (names, quantities, categories)
- Lists you create and their settings (name, color, shared status)
- Checked/unchecked status of items
Product Search Data
- Photos you submit for AI product identification are processed in real-time and are not stored after identification is complete
- Search queries for product lookup
Usage Data
- We collect minimal technical data required for the app to function (e.g., authentication tokens, session data)
- We do not collect analytics, crash reports, device identifiers, or location data
How We Use Your Information
- Account creation and authentication — To sign you in and maintain your session
- Shopping list functionality — To store, sync, and share your lists across devices
- AI features — To process product images and provide search results
- Shared lists — To enable real-time collaboration with people you choose to share with
Data Storage
Your data is stored securely using Supabase (hosted on AWS infrastructure). Data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest.
Data Sharing
We do not:
- Sell your personal data to third parties
- Share your data with advertisers
- Use your data for targeted advertising
- Track you across other apps or websites
We share data only in these cases:
- With people you explicitly share lists with — They can see list items and your display name
- With our infrastructure providers (Supabase/AWS) — Solely for hosting and data storage purposes
Third-Party Services
- Supabase — Authentication and database hosting (Supabase Privacy Policy)
- Apple Sign-In — Authentication (Apple Privacy Policy)
- Open Food Facts — Product data lookup (open-source, no personal data sent)
- SerpAPI — Fallback product image search (search queries only, no personal data)
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Access your data — All your lists and account info are visible in the app
- Delete your data — Contact us at the support URL below to request account deletion
- Port your data — Your shopping lists can be accessed from any device
Children's Privacy
Gather Lists does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The app is rated 4+ but is designed for general audiences.
Data Retention
- Your account and list data are retained as long as your account is active
- Deleted lists are permanently removed from our servers
- Product search images are processed in real-time and not retained
Changes to This Policy
We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes through the app.
